This “Wild Horse” Repertoire Will Bust
You Out Of The Ruy Lopez Jail

100 Repertoires: Open Spanish blows the game open with a fearless knight leap on move 5. So you avoid the “slow death” Black suffers in the Ruy Lopez — while your energized minor pieces raid White’s position.

Do you feel like Black is always on the “wrong side” of the Ruy?

Think about it:

The usual …a6 and …b5 chase the enemy bishop to diagonals leading to your king, while your bishop hides behind your pawns.

Sure, you gain space on the queenside…

But White cramps your center. Plus, their pieces stand on active squares. So the threat of a kingside attack always looms!

Fortunately, you don’t have to endure the passive, claustrophobic positions of the Spanish Torture…

Not when you can bust the game open on move 5, and seize the center yourself.

Open Spanish huge center
If anyone has the advantage here, it’s Black
with their imposing center

Or muster a raging initiative, especially along the e1-h4 diagonal.

Open Spanish e1-h4 pressure
Through the e1-h4 diagonal, Black will reroute
their pieces closer to the enemy king

If you like what you see, then enter 100 Repertoires: Open Spanish. Here, author Grandmaster Benjamin Gledura teaches you how to…

Take The Fight To White!

Gledura has spent years championing the black side of the Ruy Lopez. From which, he’s beaten many 2600-grandmasters… and held top 20 players to draws, including Jan Krysztof Duda and Yu Yangyi.

Today, Gledura teaches you one of the sharper weapons from his repertoire — the Open Spanish.

Here’s how it works:

You play along for the first 4 moves — 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 a6 4.Ba4 Nf6 5.O-O.

But instead of 5…Be7, which is played roughly 2/3 of the time, you challenge White’s preparation with the “wild horse” 5…Nxe4!

Open Spanish tabiya
The Open Spanish captures on e4 to stir up
active piece play and exciting skirmishes

Less than 2 out of 10 games continue with 5…Nxe4. So for the majority of your opponents, the Open Spanish will come as a shock. And that alone can tip the scales to your favor!

But even better:

The missing e-pawn and the lines opened by 5…Nxe4 clarify your plan for the next 6 to 8 moves.

✅ Secure your most active piece with …b5 and …d5.
✅ Bring your bishops to the e-file, eyeing both sides of the board.
✅ Castle your king to safety.
✅ Then start attacking the opposing center with …c7-c5!

Of course, White will have their say in the matter. But that’s where the rest of the course comes in.

95 MoveTrainer variations and over 9 hours of video cover the lines critical to your success. All while building your “big picture” understanding of the opening.

This way, you can carry out the Open Spanish’ scissoring attacks like a pro — even when the game strays from theory.

A sneak peak into the Open Spanish’ attacking potential:
Either the enemy rook or knight drops, handing
Black the advantage

We’re confident that Gledura’s 100 Repertoires: Open Spanish can bust you out of the Ruy Lopez jail…

And bring you sharp, wide open positions where you play — not to survive — but to WIN.

See for yourself when you sign up. Then spend the next month squeezing the most improvement from the repertoire.
