I started playing the Accelerated Dragon in 2007 and it has been my main opening against 1.e4 since then.

I play this against Grandmasters and also lower rated players as I believe this is a very direct, universal system and suits my uncompromising style perfectly.

The Accelerated Dragon is not so theoretical comparing to the traditional Dragon or Najdorf etc.

I have done my best to choose simple and logical lines. The analysis I present here are the lines I believe one really should remember (and many alternatives are just mentioned as plain text variations).

In my view there’s really no need to repeat lines that are unlikely to happen on the board or the moves/ideas are just analogous to lines already shown.

In this book, which consists of five chapters, I am sharing quite fresh and original, yet reliable lines to play this opening. I chose variations I use myself and which are not so heavily analyzed in some other sources.

I decided to show a couple novelties I have come up with – for example I am providing how to meet Negi’s ‘Grandmaster Repertoire 1.e4’ and Kornev’s recommendation in ‘Rossolimo and Friends’.

Their books are really cutting edge in the chess world so being ready against these lines is essential. Also I think I am the first one to provide a solution to 11.Rd1 in the Gurgenidze System of the Maroczy Bind.

The only thing missing to make it a full repertoire against 1.e4 are some anti-Sicilians like the Grand Prix Attack, Closed Sicilian or 1.e4 c5 2.b3 etc. – Maybe an idea for my second book?

At the end I would like to note I do recommend everyone learning some other lines in this opening as well.

That will improve your general understanding of these structures and your opponents won’t prepare easily against you but let’s make one step at a time. I believe this book is a good point to start your journey with this system.

Good luck!
